The Passing Of Kris Kristofferson: A Beloved Icon

Today, we remember the legendary Kris Kristofferson, who passed away peacefully at 88, surrounded by family at his home in Maui, Hawaii, on September 28. His family expressed their gratitude for the time they shared, noting, “Thank you for loving him all these many years. When you see a rainbow, know he’s smiling down at us.”

Kris was a remarkable singer-songwriter and actor, famous for his role in the 1976 film A Star Is Born alongside Barbra Streisand. He won multiple Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2004. His Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Musical showcased his talent beyond music.

Many of us cherish his timeless hits like “Me and Bobby McGee,” “For the Good Times,” and “Help Me Make It Through the Night.” In the 1980s, he joined forces with Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Johnny Cash to create the iconic supergroup, the Highwaymen.

Kris announced his retirement three and a half years ago, with his last concert in Florida in February 2020. He leaves behind a legacy rich in music and film, along with eight children and his beloved wife, Lisa Meyers, whom he married in 1983.
