We are at that time of year when we think about our lives and what is important. The coming together of families and the experience of giving both in the physical presents and our emotions.
One of the best moments for families to share is the annual drive and walk around the area to look at the Christmas House displays. Is there a better thing to see than the look of amazement on kids’ faces as they see the lights in all their glory, a giant inflatable Santa in a chimney or a Christmas train in the window zipping around a wonderfully decorated tree with presents under it?
A recent study performed by the LEGO Group titled “Rebuilding Christmas Report” shared that in Australia 1 in 2 families are wanting to have the most beautifully decorated festive home. But sometimes these designs can create more stress for the families doing them, especially at a time when interest rates are continuing to soar.
1 in 3 parents find themselves stressed and asking the question “how do I make this Christmas perfect?, How do I top last year?”. The answer doesn’t lie in the latest toy or the biggest tree but actually, Aussie kids have had a say and know exactly what they want for Christmas this year.

According to the research, more than half of Aussie parents (66%) think opening presents is what their children love the most about Christmas and although there’s no denying that gifts are high on the wish list, much to parents’ surprise (and pleasure), more than half of Aussie kids (69%) are most looking forward to playing with and sharing a gift with family and friends.
A finding echoed by 66% of parents who also see their ideal Christmas as playing with their kids and a new present.
With the emphasis deeply on play over perfection, picking the right presents can be just as special as the giving, and it’s great to encourage kids to be part of the process by having fun finding that special gift this year, whether that is walking down the aisle or getting hands-on and creative!
