Fatal crash at Alligator Creek under investigation

A man has died at Alligator Creek, south of Mackay, after a collision with a ute.

Around 5.00pm yesterday, emergency services were called to Hay Point Road, after reports of the three-vehicle crash.

Police say a black Holden Utility Ute was seen driving at speed and dangerously before it lost control, travelled onto the wrong side of the road and collided into a silver Kia sedan.

A third vehicle that was travelling behind the Silver Kia was struck by debris caused from the crash.

The driver of the Kia, a 58-year-old Ooralea man, was declared deceased at the scene.

The 35-year-old Hay Point man driving the Holden Ute sustained minor injuries and was transported to Mackay Base Hospital.

He is currently assisting police with investigations.

Forensic Crash Unit investigations remain ongoing.

Investigators are appealing to any witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam vision to come forward.
