Amazon Australia has announced the launch of its Prime FREE One-Day Delivery service in Brisbane, Geelong, Gosford, Newcastle, and Wollongong. Prime members in these cities can now enjoy this service with no minimum spend, allowing them to order until midnight for next day delivery.
This makes shopping on Amazon.com.au even more convenient. Prime is Amazon’s membership program that offers savings, convenience, and entertainment in one membership. Customers can easily identify eligible Prime FREE One-Day Delivery items through the ‘Prime FREE One-Day’ or ‘Prime One-Day’ icon on the Amazon app or Amazon.com.au. Over one million products in various categories, including electronics, books, and beauty, are now eligible for this service.
Matthew Benham, General Manager of Amazon Australia, said, “When customers shop online, they want to know they are getting a great price and that their order will be delivered to them fast, with no additional costs. Prime membership gives you that, and so much more in one membership. We are committed to growing the value of Prime in Australia so we are excited to announce the expansion of Prime FREE One-Day delivery on a huge selection of products to even more cities. Prime members in most areas of Sydney and Melbourne have already been enjoying this service and we are thrilled to be able to offer Prime members in these additional locations access to the service.”
From day one of membership, Prime members in eligible areas of Brisbane, Geelong, Gosford, Newcastle, and Wollongong, along with Sydney and Melbourne, will enjoy FREE One-Day Delivery on over a million eligible items.
They will also have access to Amazon Original series and films on Prime Video, like Reacher S1-2, Saltburn, Daisy Jones & The Six, Citadel, and Australian Amazon Original series The Test S1-3, Deadloch, Luxe Listings Sydney S1-3, Dance Life, and the upcoming Five Blind Dates, plus other popular movies and TV shows.
Additionally, Prime members can stream ad-free music with Amazon Music, which offers a wide selection of 100 million songs in shuffle mode. Customers who haven’t tried Prime can get a 30-day free trial at amazon.com.au/prime and then choose to pay AU$9.99 per month or $79 for an annual membership.
Amazon Australia is focused on expanding product selection and delivery areas that qualify for Amazon’s Prime FREE One-Day Delivery. This allows more Australian Prime members to access a wider range of products, delivered faster. Even Prime members outside of eligible areas can still enjoy free delivery in as fast as two days on eligible orders. With six fulfilment centres, including a facility in Lytton, Brisbane, which is the same size as two Rugby League fields, Amazon Australia can store over 1.5 million items from Amazon.com.au.
“We are able to offer customers fast delivery speed as a result of our continuing investment and expansion into our operations in Australia. By building fulfilment centres and delivery stations close to where our customers live and work, packages travel shorter distances, which enables us to speed up delivery,” Mr Benham added.
Since 2011, Amazon has invested over A$15 billion in Australia, with A$5 billion in 2022 alone, to improve the delivery experience for customers. In 2023, Amazon increased its delivery capacity by almost 50% and added 600 permanent roles to its operations network. This means more Australian customers can now enjoy faster delivery, including evenings and weekends, and reattempted deliveries when they’re not home.
The expansion of Prime FREE One-Day delivery allows selling partners to reach more customers quickly. Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) is a method for sellers on Amazon.com.au to leverage Amazon’s logistics network. Sellers simply send their products to Amazon’s fulfilment centres, and Amazon takes care of storage, picking, packing, and shipping to customers. Amazon also handles customer service and returns. All FBA-enrolled products are eligible for Prime delivery, providing next-day delivery to Prime members in most postcodes in Brisbane, Geelong, Gosford, Melbourne, Newcastle, Sydney, and Wollongong, with no minimum spend.
