Originally from the small town of Bowen in North Queensland, Hammo went to school at Saint Mary’s  and then onto boarding School at Mount Carmel College at Charters Towers.  His first job was working on farms in the Bowen area, and after 12 months he moved into the hospitality industry at the Denison Hotel in Bowen. For the next few years Hammo worked for various establishments in hospitality including the Sheraton in Townsville where he became Queensland’s Cocktail mixing Champion and finished his hospitality career as a relieving Manager for the Austotel group.

In 1990 Hammo then stated work for Coca Cola Amatil as an Area Manager for 3 years before moving back to Bowen to become Manager of The Denison Hotel where he began his hospitality career, after 2 years he was offered the position of Economic Development Officer for the Bowen Shire, this incorporated looking at industry within the region and the promotion of the town he was instrumental in commercialising the now famous Bowen Fishing Classic and Wet Weekend which is now Australia’s largest family fishing classic. Soon Townsville was calling again and he moved back to take up the position of Industry Trainer with the Hospitality Training Company he worked with the long term unemployed helping them with job skills and techniques and motivating them to find employment, it was while he was working here that he was interviewed on a local radio station about his work when he was asked if he would be interested in working on radio, the rest is history as he became the Anchor for the Breakfast Show at Triple T in Townsville for 13 years and now is off to Mackay to take on the position of Breakfast Announcer at popular radio station 4MK in Mackay.

Hammo is described by many as a cheeky larrikin, a likeable bloke who not only entertains people on the air waves but over the last 13 years has become well known for his comedy, professional MC and Spruiking, (and yes he can even belt out a tune working with various Cabaret Shows in Queensland including OZ Vegas, It’s My Party and Vegas Downunder)
